Review of Far Pavilions  Open in new Window.
Review by IAmMeadowRayne Author IconMail Icon

Hello there :) You have captured the greatest part about being a reader. Readers are able to create hallucinations in their minds of faraway places and experiences. I really enjoyed the phrase "...Situations and woods I'd rather avoid". I know that I've had nightmares and chills run down my spine when reading some of the books I've read about some of the places I'd rather avoid. Thanks for sharing this :)

Review of Nature's view  Open in new Window.

Hello there :) I think you did a great job at painting a picture of feeling trapped and with little to no control over one's self. I also enjoyed the transition you created from feeling like you were suffocating to a vivid image of a red rose on white show. Well done :) I am giving a 4.5 though because I think that the last phrase "she is my beauty queen" is a little weak of an ending for such a descriptive piece.

Review of Honey Bee  Open in new Window.

Hello there :) This poem gave me such a beautiful visual of spring :) I think you did a fantastic job of making it light, almost sing-songy, and I enjoyed thinking about my son petting the bees in the summer. Cheers for an early spring! This was lovely :)

Hello there :) This definitely took a turn that I wasn't expecting and it made me smile :D I hate it when cute little kittens turn into little agents of death, but I like reading about them! This was fun, thanks :)

Helo there :) I enjoyed reading this short poem and appreciated your use of phrases like "10 pennies dimed" and "odd numbers primed". I'm curious, what was your inspiration for his poem?

Review of Victory  Open in new Window.
Review by IAmMeadowRayne Author IconMail Icon

Aww, I really enjoyed this. I think that acrostic poems are always fun, sometimes silly, but you made it about loss and missing someone dearly. I was curious as to why you chose the word Victory. My favorite line was the first: "Vacant is my mind as I think of you". We all know how hard it can be to concentrate when all you can think about is that special someone. You did a great job!

Review of Ghost  Open in new Window.

Oh dang. This is definitely a heartstring-puller. Whether the person has passed or the person is someone who you've lost in other ways, the feeling of missing someone is unbelievably intense. The first four lines of this piece are my favorite, but the line "Are you in the crispy leaves that are skittered away by the wind?" provides an incredible visual. You did a great job!

Hello there! I appreciate this post for a couple of reasons. First, my husband is one of those people who have a difficult time with authority and following rules that seem silly at the time. While this hasn't gotten him in any trouble at work, it has certainly made for some good stories. Second, I suppose people are in charge for a reason, but this just makes me want to be my own boss even more lol

Wow! It's clear to see that you really enjoy writing about animals. Is it because you feel as if they're kindred spirits like I do? I look forward to going through and checking out some of your work. I'm especially looking forward to reading "Worms of Terror" and "Pink Elephants and Custard".

Thanks for sharing

Review of High Winds  Open in new Window.

Wow. I've never been in a tornado. I've been through a hurricane, but never a tornado, and picturing one coming down from the mountains seems frightening. Not to mention seeing a tornado blasting through the plains at speeds of 120 mph! I couldn't imagine the fear it would cause to see such a thing. I enjoyed this short, yet thought-provoking poem.

Thank you for sharing it.

Hello :) I absolutely love how the title played in once I finished reading it. "If Wishes Could Fly" made me feel like I was back in my cousin's fort, playing silly make-believe games and making plans for the sleepover the next weekend. You turned a simple wish into a cute puppet that was getting to fly home...how sweet is that?

Review of POWER  Open in new Window.

YESSS! This is the kind of thing that I like to see. It is SO important to live a life that we are in control of and a life that we can feel good about. Unfortunately, we can lose our way and forget how powerful we are.
Thank you so much for sharing this. It was a wonderful reminder of infinite potential and the desire to create magic :)

Review of One Lucky Day  Open in new Window.

Wow. This entire poem is so lovely, but the first two lines are truly what grabbed and held my attention. "I would get the stars from the heavens, see?" reminds me of an old romance movie from the twenties and the fella is just trying to show his authentic self in hopes of getting a chance to meet with the girl. It's a wholesome poem that pulled at the heartstrings and I think you did a great job!
