This one was a real surprise for me. It reminded me very much of the story of Van Gogh because he always thought he was an utter failure and locals certainly thought he was crazy. Maybe it's a trait of many successful artists; the frustration of striving for perfection becoming an obsession.
For me, the word 'that' could disappear from the first line because It took me a few lines to establish the beat, but if I read without it, it seems to flow straight in.
Great family tale, full of all the elements of a real family, at the mercy of their own personal drama queen. Love the interspersed sentiment of the 'slightly out of his depth' father, who is doing his best to see what could possibly be so awful (Not an easy one, that!), all wrapped neatly in a very nice rhyme scheme. Couldn't see anything I'd change.
