Nice story. It reminds me of "Waiting for Godot" and theatre of the absurd. Very existentialist. One thing that struck me was the short paragraphs. Whether it was intentional or not, it seemed to suggest that there was little to be said, as it had all been said before.
I really like the analogy of music equating to war. I found the first part of the story to be intriguing, and with the transition from narrative to descriptive style, There seemed to be an appropriate amount of space regarding behind-the-scenes detail to move on with the story in the former, I'd think, metaphysical aspect.
The last line of the story is very well done, and the transition seems comfortable. The story ended too abruptly, though. I expected a buffer paragraph between describing the background and leading back into the main timeline.
This was a well written story and the premise is very interesting. As a slightly longer work I think it would be close to perfect in its composition. The language and poetry of the words, moreover, is skillful. I will be happy to see more of this author's work,
