Review of August Dream  Open in new Window.

Yes! The reader is just 'dropped right in it', from the beginning. This feels like a 'Kubla Khan' style piece that I really enjoy. You avoid cliche phrases and words that are usually used in scenes like this and the subtle narrative remark near the beginning ' I am not the jealous type, but I wish I am among them.' adds a sense of realism to it that I like. This is a really intimate read; the architecture and sparseness of it all makes it a really fast and hard hitting read.

Awesome stuff.

This is sublime.

Such dry and pungent sarcasm is, I find, the best and most satisfying way of getting through to someone and if they still don't understand - let the games continue. Of course, I hope you don't actually have their child tied up, but I wouldn't blame you if you did! Great letter, Mr. Stinger. I hope your neighbours move or sort themselves out.

Review of A Bunch Of Things  Open in new Window.

I enjoyed this poem as it has a rather 'cinematic' feel to it, as each line runs on to seemingly unrelated objects or figures that have no relation to each other, at least in terms of location; this effect makes me feel as though I am being guided by the words through my imagination in a swift and fluid manner, having a quick look-in at the situation and then being transported again to the next.

The title is certainly fitting as the meaning and 'story' is literally about a 'Bunch of Things'. It reminds me of a smaller scale version of 'Song of Myself' (Walt Whitman), due to the magnitude in which encompasses many things on a superficial, but usually unnoticed or overlooked, level. The architecture and lyrical rhythm of the words feels clipped and short, and each line starts up as if from anew, but the images somehow converge to create a different effect aurally and emotionally, one that does away with the possibly simplistic and 'stoppy/starty' construct.
