I thoroughly enjoyed your poem! I'm compelled to point out on grammatical error (a life "to" dear to waste) but don't think anything of it because I'm a freak about grammar. It was great!! The part I most enjoyed was a life that had come un-sewn. Brilliant! It was a joy to read. I can never get myself to write happy poems -- it just doesn't feel right. I think you captured perfectly the essence of poetry: saying what otherwise can't be said.
An interesting idea behind the word count, representing the first six numbers of Pi. It coalesced nicely. My personal favorite lines were 4, 5 and the first two words of 6. Linking birthdays - a day in the past when we came into existence - as gateways to our future was an insightful line.
