I, personally, love doing reviews. It's how I get motivated on my bad days. Gets me thinking and writing. Just sitting her staring at this block for me to type in gets my fingers going and I start to get the "urge" to do some of my own writing.
I hope you don't mind, but I am keeping a copy of this as a guideline for my reviews! Of course, I may change it around or adjust it for myself, but I desperately needed something to get me started.
By the way, if you ever feel the urge, check out my story I just added to my site! I would love some feedback on it.
After seeing this, I feel a whole lot better about my writing! When I was growing up I had teachers that yelled at me about not using enough of these comma's. I'm always finding ways to get rid of them because of these teachers. Then one day I'm in college and I had my English teacher return a paper telling me, "It's ok to use comma's, you know."
Boy! I mention I don't know how to do something and all these people jump on and show me how to do it! I love this site! I use it to mainly get myself into the mood of writing, but maybe with all this love I will actually start entering some of these contests! Maybe. I haven't written anything for a long while.
I really enjoyed this story! I caught on quick that the sword had some kind of spell on it, though. I would personally love to see some more of this tale. Maybe the boy has a natural immunity of sorts? Now that could become a good series, or even a full fledged novel!
I have said this before, poetry is not my thing. That being said, I have to say this got me thinking. I tend to find things to do, like check my email, and my house is still a mess. LOL. I, too, find that sitting in front of my laptop and reading other peoples stories (and poems) a good way to get myself motivated.
Now if I could only get the dishes done.
Actually a very good read.
I really loved the way you mixed in some history into your scifi, like how Nero caused such a problem for them. I loved how you hinted about the specials! I now have to do some research on ww2 because of you. LOL.
It may just be me (I have some head injuries to deal with) but I would've liked to have a little better description of your characters. In my mind I see a floating upside down bulb and I'm not really sure that's what you wanted. Keep in mind I only read it once, I figured you would want my first impressions.
