Being a father, this nearly brought me to tears. This was well written, and worked on the emotions just as they should. As criminal prosecutor, this enraged me. Here in Nevada, a 3rd DUI in 7 years is mandatory prison time, the 4th is 2-15 years mandatory. I have never been able to understand what makes a person get behind the wheel after drinking. This is a very powerful and evocative piece. Thank you for sharing.
Very touching, the emotion is clearly felt. The second line confused me and I felt was forced so the rhyme could be made, but the flow throughout the rest of the poem was easy and fluid. I am sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing.
Very nice! I really enjoyed the building tension and sorrow, culminated by the acceptance on both sides. I was fluctuating between anticipation and revulsion. I was a little nervous based on your description, but I'm glad I read it anyway. Great imagery throughout.
