I can't wait to read more, I hate being left hanging with something that grabs my interest as quickly as this story does. The only thing that hung me up, was the line "She stared in awe at what was her work". When I read that, it made me think that she caused the explosion. Maybe 'her workplace'?

I love the idea of the author being drawn into his own creation! I can think of many books that I'd love to crawl into and never be seen from again. Your characters are easy to 'see' and become real for me as soon as they are introduced. Too bad he couldn't leave a note for his parents or something...but maybe they need to read his book!
