Interesting story, though it seems to be a "one-shot" like a day in the life of as told by this little girl. I would have liked to have been more submersed in the environment. What did the house and town look like? Was it a pre-war community that people moved into, or did everyone set up shop in the middle of nowhere? What where the sights and smells, what did the sky look like, why did the people coexist as a community yet fight amongst each other? It's the little details, for me anyways, that really pull me into a tale. It's refreshing to just jump into a post apocalyptic tale without having a pre-story of a war or blight that doesn't fall into a heap of cliché's. It's a war, it's bad, it is what it is. I'd be interested in seeing where this tale goes.
Pretty good read. I think you captured the fear that most arachniphobics, including myself, suffer from. Good to see your life experience happened without incident. As I read through your tale, I was expecting some horrible tragedy like waking up with spiders crawling out of your mouth or worse.
