I try to Balance Criticism with positive. how hard that is to do is usually how I gage stars.
I'm good at...
Talking content over nuts and bolts. I struggle with nuts and bolts myself
Favorite Genres
Fantasy, Poetry. most stuff I can look over and review in less then an hour.
Least Favorite Genres
Super high SciFi. anything that the phrase "just go with it." or "it reads better if you don't think about it." I think about it even more then.
I will not review...
something that wants me to sympathize with a horrible person. I get stories that are "the person is not the good, but see it from there side" but stuff that shows me someone I'd get a restraining order for and tells me they are the best will be shot down SO hard. I'll put it this way. I don't hate Twilight and 50 Shades because of the sparkles or the sex. I hate them because the man in the story is emotionally abusive. I have a consoling background. Those men are not someone to love.

Review of My name is Nate  Open in new Window.

The object of art thinking about the creator. I know it has been done before but I can't think of an example at the moment.

I like the tone and pace of this. the way "Nate" speaks about loving and fearing the actions of the "Creator" as if they were a god is interesting.

Great poem. Tells a fantastic story and has great imagery.

I was genuinely giggling as I read this. Not that it's a funny poem. I was laughing because I am currently writing a story about a group called the Wardens and this poem fits fairly well into the lore, minus the star ship part.

Great poem on it's own but I felt the need to give you at least four star simply for the similarity.

Keep writing.

I can see and understand what you're going for here. The whole issue of who can you trust is timeless.

The issue I see is you don't really bring anything new to it. the repeated use of the words "Friend" and "Enemy" leave them both felling tired, over used, and meaningless. In some way, this could be good, being that we can sometime feel like these titles can be overused. We live in a world where friends can hold you back and a quality foil can be a most valuable teacher.

The problem is that the over use simply makes it hard to keep reading. I recommend looking in a thesaurus for synonyms for both.

Keep trying, things are timeless for a reason.

Review of Winter  Open in new Window.

Very good. Makes me really feel a little sad I live in the subtropics.

I like the 1st, 2nd, 4th rhyming. you don't see that often. As that it is only two stanzas, I had kinda hoped you would make 3rd lines rhyme with each other, but that would have just been a sort of icing on the cake.

Review of Song  Open in new Window.

Somewhat interesting in how you could say that all the lines rhyme or that the 1st and 3rd rhyme and the 2nd and 4th rhyme with each other and they really both work.

I'm not really a fan of short poems unless the subject they are talking about is brevity. Kinda feels like my readers tongue got up and ready for something that didn't even dirty my mouth. It's matter of taste.
