I don't understand poetry and I suppose I never really seriously tried to understand it. However I will say that I like this visual poem. Not knowing anything, I think the stairway would really make more of a happy expression if the steps were raising left to right. In the present form the reader descends with each word which is not the impression I think the author wishes to express. I still like it though.
