You my friend, hit the proverbial nail on the head! I always thought that love was the little things that you do for your better half. By sucking it up and letting her have all the hot water, you not only gave up your desire for that nice shower, you gave her a bit more of your heart.
LOL.. Love it! It is truly amazing how that happens at the most inconvenient times. And being a big fan of the every present Girl Scout cookie sale, I can feel your need to buy several boxes of those evil samao's. Wonderful short tale that got a good chuckle from me. Was it the duck or was it the wish he started to make? Being a parent I can see how he would want to protect his little girl, so the feeling you bring out in writing about it, is spot on. The chance to take a child's place at death is both every parents wish and every parents fear. Good story and very well written. Simple but that was the point. Describing things as they might have happened so long ago was intriguing. The simple life to the fullest. Even now a days we take the things that Thugg had invented for granted. Seeing how the thought of just a spear came about was different. I good short story overall. Interesting start to what seems like a good sci fi story. I'm curious about the Coder and about some more of the back story. I hope you address this is the next chapters. Like the character development of Dana, you left enough out of her back story to make her real and a unknown in a way. Same thing with Odin, he is a AI but yet he seemed to have a few human traits. Look forward to reading more.
Interesting tale. The imagery from the moment he got up and slowly fades away, was very thought out and descriptive. Wondering why no one answered him and ignored him as he tried to call for help or bumped into him. and Then just leaving his train of thought off into nothing was a good touch.
