"Brutally honest," I've found that those individuals that claim such a title are usually more brutal than honest.

Some criticisms of the introduction:

"When I first started working on this personal statement, I did (suggested phrasing: 'quite a bit' or 'some' - statement lends more toward 'some') research [no comma] by Googling “How to write a good personal statement."

"... both impressive and truly [reflective of] who I am..."

Thoughts on content:

Now, I could continue being strict about grammar and punctuation, etc. However, I decided to simply read through what appeared to follow as the content of your "Personal statement," and feel that I wouldn't want you to change it in the least because it reads the way I believe that you would say it. Therefore, these words are truly your own. You can edit it to clean it up but try to stay true to your voice.
