Colored for the Dark

This is the time of day when the world is still,
as the sun slips under the silvered mountains.
An avid glow paints the once-gray parish;
a swift wind blows by,
wafting through the tangle of jade grass,
arising sweet scents into the cool night air.
A mighty falcon swoops down low,
in a yearning search for languid prey.
He sees the wide world spread around him,
his slick russet feathers embrace the breeze
as he descends low to catch his supper.
The world is so bright this evening as
the vibrant sky turns a harsh
