My first poem that actually means something to me - have a look and see what you think. |
For years you have fooled, laid hidden and lied, But now I see the startling clarity of truth, And the impassable mask behind which you hide That only once alone do you remove. The skin-deep image of beauty and grace, The outward display of joy - far from pain Portrayed by the laughter that's painted on you face, Disappears when inner silence once again reigns. The golden light that shines upon you in the day Provides you with another veil to hide behind So that those who choose to turn away Can blame ignorance on you leading them to be blind. You stand lost amongst a dream that eventually dies, Like a crimson rose lingering in desolate, cracked earth, Whilst long-buried memories surface in your glassy eyes With the whisper of yet another nightmare's birth. Your road to refuge finally opens and clears When you stumble out of the imaginary and into the real. My offer of help does not fall upon deaf ears And hope is in sight of your wounds to heal. The teardrops of the past are now dwindling oceans And the clouds of silver storms subside frailly. The world returns to you love and devotion And so here we stand for an eternity. I hope this strikes a chord with someone out there reading this, but even if it doesn't, I hope that this is a piece of poetry that is easy and fluent to read. Please review and tell me what you like or dislike about it or any mistakes made. |
