An invasion marketed as a liberation is by no means a new idea...
The Sick Satisfaction

The Americans liberated the French,
Who liberated the Americans
– And its Indians,
From the British
Who liberated their bullets
– From their oppressive barrels,
Upon the
Men,
Women
And Children
Of India.

1918.

Amritsar.

Collateral damage
Like 9/11 America.

The US Navy:
1815,
Arrived to liberate world trade
With a victory.
Liberating Algeria
From the terror of piracy –
For the French to then liberate,
From the Ottomonopoly.
That is
To say

After the Spanish,
The Arabs
And Berber,
The Touaregs,
The Romans,
And sons of Phoenicia
All liberated those
Same dusty plains,
Of the oppressive Sahara
Denied the right to rain.

The Americans have liberated the earth
– It should be thankful.
The British,
The French
And the Turks
No longer have to.

Themselves liberated by the fact
They are no longer

the liberator

the invader

the warmonger.

Just the

caretaker

peacekeeper

aid-worker.

And the distant ancestors of
Rockets and swords,
Who inherit a bitter taste
On the back of their tongues,
And a sick satisfaction
At the bottom of their souls.

As they all wait
For their Liberator
To fall.
