Similarities of racing or competitions with romantic relationships |
Romance of Racing Racing is having a goal, whether you reach it or not. Racing is motivational, to work, fix your bike, reduce your sleep to prepare for the race. Racing is discipline, not allowing yourself to destroy your brain cells, or body with contaminants that will cause you to lose the race. Racing is exhilaration upon winning, if not the race, winning the excitement of the journey to the race, the camaraderie of your competitors, and watching someone else win sometimes. Racing is disappointing sometimes, when you lose the race, after all you've done. Like racing love is having a goal, another's happiness as well as your own. Love is motivating to keep oneself positive so as not to be a burden, but rather an inspiration to your partner. Love is discipline, not allowing carelessness, inconsideration, or angry words ruin a wonderful relationship. Love is exhilarating, giving you energy to work for your loved one, and watching them smile and laugh and enjoy life with you. Love is disappointing sometimes, when you lose the one who mattered most in your life to death; something you can't do anything about - you can't make it better - you can't apologize - you can't sleep at night - you can't laugh with that person again - you can't call them to lean on - you can't see your way past the next hour, much less the next day - you can't help but cry for the sad and lonely feeling you have and yet, you cry, for the joy that you had together and remembering with gladness in your heart that you made their last few years their happiest.
