You're about as contagious
as I am infallible
          [call out, I want
            to hear you guttural]

But don't worry this
delirium is spreading
faster than her legs.

And as long as I
remain complacent
my body will sing
a convincing tune
of euphoria
laced with neglect.

These echoes reverberate
the sound of a
staccato heart-beat
          [rat-a-tat-tat
           the tin man is
           screaming again]
