A mild attempt to create lyrical notions, originally designed for my Mother. |
“Bird Watching” Let us watch all the birds, As they pursue unknown deeds. Noting action and color, Frantic eaters of seeds. By sight and design, Birds fly free and quite fast. Born by grace of the wind, Heralds of prehistoric past. And while men will attempt, To make machines which will fly, Such technology is costly, Many times gone awry! So we watch and admire Deft avians, and their kind, And we’ll steal such an image, Our nation’s Eagle in mind. Their history is longer, And much greater by course. For they rightfully bear, Dinosaur lineage for source. Even snake and or lizard Seem closer by notion But only birds can declare T-Rex…father’s potion. Both beautiful and rapacious Pound for pound quite the stronger Birds love their born fledglings Fearsome providers for their younger They will fight for a niche In a world to detest. Like the best traits of mammals, They would die for their nest. And when winter has come The earth barren with snow. Only some choose to stay, Where do other birds go? Like proud, wealthy people, They head for vacation. And such freedom by wing, Is not bound to one nation! When does one type arrive, Or some other cast leave? Birds serve greater senses, And shall take their reprieve. For the others, like chickens, We’ll fatten their meat. These genetic achievements, Make Thanksgiving's treat. Still pride is Man’s failure, And great writers have said, While we feast upon pheasant, Human flesh…vulture’s bread. So watch them, these birds And all flagrance they show Since Captains have passed, Treasures parrots still know. And now it is fact: The “Macaw,” is the better Learning language and words, Beyond all animal measure! So we must watch! Watch all of the birds, Whether Eagle or Sparrow, For they watch us right back, Acumen not so narrow! In truth it is said, That birds have the right, Across land, sea, and air Their feathers take flight. Bright Finch and Blue-Jay We often omit. But of Eagle and Vulture That’s historical writ! And when Canaries were gauges, For danger in mines. Watch birds once again, To see Death's telling signs. You may love to taste Chicken, And Turkey is better, But, see birds beyond beasts, No matter their feather! For in final denotion, The birds make so clear, Human filth and our waste, Make and end drawing near! And if birds do not come To be watched in our grace, Then the world has evolved Towards the end of our race. So keep watching… Let men make predictions Of Fate’s morbid mask, But behold all the birds, For they’re up to the task! And as Eagles will soar, So Vultures will roost, Then our fortune is told, We’re but sauce for the Goose! |
