What girls my age usually thinks... |
When we speak of Homosexual we speak of persons who have the liking of persons of their sex, in my country Guyana or any Caribbean country we call such persons ‘gay’. In other countries of elevated customary the word ‘gay’ is defined as someone happy. Now I speak of a ‘Mad Woman’ and the first thought that comes to mind is literally a ‘MAD’ person, but what I’m actually referring to is someone who has had enough of what life had offer and was taking things into their own hands. As a young woman I had many ups and downs in my lifetime. Whether it was boyfriends, the way I dressed, and basically my association, it was all a living nightmare to me. Women my age tend to take things seriously as of older women who brush it off. We have all experienced our first heartbreak; our first kiss, our first embarrassment and it all came down to us having some sort of hatred for men and persons superior to us. ‘When a woman’s fed up,’ those words stuck with most women of today’s society. We get ‘fed up’ of these deceitful things; we spend most of our time listening to the music that causes us breakdown. Questions arise, what if I hadn’t done this or What if he had done this? These things cause us to become ‘Mad Women’ we abruptly view life as a living hell, with its demons chasing us. We don’t always give up; we just get ‘Mad.’ Men are then disciplined by us for their wrongdoing. The calls and messages cease, the tears are held back, the admiration is with held, the hatred in gone but what remains is the driven anger within to make them pay. We try to captivate our spouse attention with the things we do and how we do it, but what happens in the end, we loose a battle that’s not worth fighting for. Back then Women were subdue from many things, various jobs were off limits, marriages were sorted out by the parents, our attire often depicted who we were. Women dare to wear the various revealing clothing of today’s society. These days we care less about what they think; we have become ‘Mad Women.’ From past experience we learn how to control this anger, how to be apt, we adapt this feeling of a stress-free lifestyle, we basically change all thoughts of life and accept it as it is. It doesn’t make us any less human but a powerful individual. Women need to be appreciated. We need understanding. Men have often defined us as deranged women but the fact is, we are just at the beginning of our lives and there’s still so many things we have yet to face. Mad women will continue to exist as long as 'men' walks the face of the earth, knowing we can’t live without them. Tashandra |
