This poem is about how hard it can be to escape when life seems unbearable.
Some people trudge down the road of tragedy,
And drown in a river of sorrow.
They struggle to dig their way out of regret,
While scorching under a torchering sun.

Some do not know how to break free,
Of the tragic roads they travel,
Or how to come to the surface,
Instead of drowning in self-pity.

Some do not know how to dig out,
Of the pit of regret that's consumed them;
They've buried themselves too deep.

Some people race down the road of triumph,
And swim in a gleaming sea of hope.
They roll down the hills of happiness,
And rejoice under a bright, warm sun.

I race down the road of triumph,
But get distracted along the way.
And find myself trudging down a path,
Of tragedy I did not choose.

I have drowned in a river of sorrow,
Though I've also swam in a sea of hope.
But the tide may push me the wrong way,
And I'm unwillingly drowning again.

My pit is not so deep anymore,
I can climb out at any second;
If only this unwanted path and river,
Wouldn't force me back into their clutches.
