A Broken Heart

A broken heart is easy to find
Reach down in my soul and you will see
All the pain and suffering
The depression is beyond despair
The love in me lies dormant now
As confusion and puzzlement take hold
Where do I go from here?
How can I recover and find my way?
The blackness of loneliness
The concentrated feeling of hate
One step forward two steps back
Trinkets of displeasure pave the way
To the deep underworld of sorrow and shame
Forgive me my sins as I do repent
I understand now what hurt really means
To be used and thrown aside
If I knew then what I know now
If only I could turn back time
So much love compressed deep within
