Dance with Him

He tips his black top hat to his partner, bows before her, his posture one of strength colored with respect.

He stands up straight with his hat jauntily repositioned on his head. He holds his hand out for hers, his shoulders held back with pride with the pleasure of escorting this lovely lady in his arms onto the dance floor.

The music starts with a slow pitch as he encircles her in his arms guiding her with easy steps of rhythm. Their arms enclose against each other’s bodies with precision. His right index finger is the only guiding tool piloting her to match his steps. The bottom of her dress sways with gentle motions as she follows his lead. Their shoes hardly make a sound as they step across the floor.

They smile at each other as their energy merges together. Their vibrant unity shines for all to see. They focus on no one but one another. They know the slow tempo is just the prelude to the upcoming arousal of feeling as one.

And then it happens.

The music starts to beat faster. Their bodies start to glide faster. The strobe light pulses with each beat of the music highlighting him and his lady in glory. He clasps her body more firmly against his as they dance from one end of the dance floor to the other. She laughs with joy as he guides her into dips with risqué movements of sensual abandonment.

He throws back his head and laughs with her as they share the sheer happiness of moving with fluidity.

“Danny, wake up. Come on, Danny wake up.”

“Whaaa?”

“You’ve got to get up, the bus will be here in ten minutes. You know how Mom gets when you get up late.”

Danny heaves a big sigh of disappointment for the vanishing dream. His dream of dancing with his dream lady will have to be revisited after he gets done with the seventh grade.
