Once upon a time, there was the beautiful white kingdom. In this white kingdom there was a brave and kind-hearted knight named Sir Dugan. One day, King Kent summoned Sir Dugan. The king wanted to send Sir Dugan on a quest. Sir Dugan said that he would go on this quest. The king sent Sir Dugan to the Red Kingdom.
So Sir Dugan went to the red kingdom. There he met Princess Rowan. She was trying to get an apple from an apple tree. Sir Dugan asked if could help the small princess. Rowan said yes. Sir Dugan picked an apple from the tree. He also cut and cored the apple for the small princess. The princess smiled and told the knight to come and stay with her and her family. Sir Dugan met Princess Rowan’s father, King Rufus. When King Rufus heard about the knight’s kind deed, he gave Sir Dugan a Gules Triangle for his shield. Sir Dugan stayed the night. The next morning King Rufus sent sir Dugan to the Gold kingdom.
When Sir Dugan got to the Gold kingdom, he came across two old people, Paz and Eldora. Sir Dugan noticed that they were sad. He asked what was wrong. Paz said that they had no money to pay for food. Sir Dugan, who wanted to help this old couple, reached for his pouch and grabbed 5 gold coins and gave it to the old couple. This old couple was so touched by the knights kindness they led Sir Dugan to the king of that kingdom, King Orlando. When the king heard of the kindness done to two of his people, King Orlando bestowed the Or Triangle on the Knight. Sir Dugan put the Or Triangle on his shield. King Orlando offered Sir Dugan a place to stay for the night and he also told the knight that he should go to the Green kingdom in the morning.
Sir Dugan went to the Green Kingdom. Sir Dugan went to the castle. There he met the gardener of the green kingdom. His name was Vermont. Vermont had dug a hole in the ground but the tree he was attempting to plant was too heavy for one man to move all by himself. Sir Dugan asked Vermont if he could help plant the tree. Vermont happily agreed. Together the two men planted the tree. Vermont asked the hard working knight to come and follow him. Sir Dugan followed Vermont into the castle. Vermont led the knight to the king of the kingdom, King Varden. When King Varden heard of the Knight’s willingness to do hard work, the king awarded Sir Dugan the Vert Triangle. Sir Dugan put the Vert Triangle on his Shield. King Varden asked Sir Dugan would stay the night. Sir Dugan said yes. The next morning King Varden sent Sir Dugan to the Blue Kingdom.
In the Blue Kingdom it was very cold. Sir Dugan wrapped his Blue cloak around him. As he was heading towards the Castle, he saw a girl freezing in the cold. Feeling sorry for her, Sir Dugan went over to her and gave his warm blue cloak to the girl. The girl told Sir Dugan thank you and that her name was Hitomi. Hitomi led the knight to the castle where Sir Dugan met King Indivar, King of the blue Kingdom. When the king heard of the knight’s compassion to Hitomi, He awarded Sir Dugan the Azure Triangle. Sir Dugan put The Azure Triangle on his shield. King Indivar invited Sir Dugan to stay the night. That night the King told Sir Dugan that he should go to the Purple Kingdom in the morning.
Sir Dugan went to the Purple kingdom. There he met a small lady who was trying to get some plums. Sir Dugan was taller than her he graciously asked the lady if he might not pick the plums for her. The Lady Graciously accepted the help. Sir Dugan picked the plums and handed them to the Lady. The lady smiled and asked for his name. Sir Dugan gave his name to the lady. The Lady revealed that she was Queen Lilac of the Purple kingdom. Queen Lilac asked Sir Dugan if he might escort her back to the castle where her husband, King Porfirio, would give a reward for his chivalry toward her. Sir Dugan agreed. They got to the Castle and the Queen told her husband about the encounter with Sir Dugan. King Porfirio awarded Sir Dugan with the Purpure Triangle. Sir Dugan put it on his shield. King Porfirio told Sir Dugan about the Black Kingdom. There was no king but there was a Black fighter terrorizing the people there. The Black fighter would have these contests and if he won, which he always did, he would get to tax the poor people. Sir Dugan asked the king if the Black fighter fought with honor. The king said sadly no he didn’t and that he cheated to win at these contests. It had gotten so bad that no one would step forward to challenge the Black fighter. Sir Dugan said that he would fight this Black fighter at the next tournament. King Porfirio smiled and said that the next Tournament was the next day and that Sir Dugan could challenge the Black fighter then. The king offered Sir Dugan a place to stay that night and that sir Dugan should leave in the morning.
The next morning Sir Dugan headed out for the Black Kingdom. When he got there, the black fighter was standing there shouting to the frightened people who were brave enough to fight him. Sir Dugan said that he would and the black fighter laughed. The Black fighter told him that their fight would happen at noon on that day and that Sir Dugan should be prepared for the fight. Sir Dugan nodded. At noon, Sir Dugan and The black fighter met on the field of battle. Every one in the Black kingdom came to watch. It was a long and tiring fight. Finally Sir Dugan had The Black fighter to yield to him. The black fighter started to cry. Sir Dugan asked why was he crying. The Black fighter said that he had never met anyone who could best him in battle and the only reason that he was frightening the people was that he never had anyone teach him how to be a kind, compassionate, and brave knight. Sir Dugan said that if the Black fighter wanted to do that then he would gladly take the Black fighter on as Squire. The black fighter smiled. Sir Dugan asked for the Black fighter’s name and The Black fighter said that it was Raven. Sir Dugan then smiled and said that Raven would earn those spurs. Raven gave Sir Dugan the Sable Triangle. Sir Dugan put it on his shield. The Sir Dugan and Raven left the Black Kingdom and went back to Sir Dugan’s home in the White Kingdom.
When Sir Dugan and Raven arrived in the White Kingdom, they went straight to the king, King Kent. King Kent had Received letters from the Red, gold, green, blue, and purple kingdoms. He had heard of Sir Dugan’s many adventures in these kingdoms. King Kent asked Sir Dugan what happened in the Black Kingdom. Sir Dugan said that the Black fighter had yielded and was now a squire to him. Raven said that Sir Dugan fought with honor and was pleased that Sir Dugan had agreed that he would take on Raven as a squire. The King smiled. The King then told Sir Dugan that the reason that he had sent the knight on this quest was to see if the knight was brave, compassionate, kind, and honorable. King Kent said that Sir Dugan had exceeded his expectations and decided that Sir Dugan would receive the Argent Rondell. Sir Dugan was taken aback. That was the highest award that anyone could receive in the White Kingdom. Sir Dugan asked where would he put this most valued award. The king smiled even bigger. He told the knight to look at his shield. When the knight did, his eyes widened. On his shield, there were all the awards that he had received from the other kingdoms. Sir Dugan knew then where to put the Argent Rondell, Right in the center. That is how Sir Dugan became the Many Colored Knight.
