I Pledge

My heart’s been feeling tight, caged, beaten and bruised
Divided by the many things I’ve felt and had to choose.

Incredibly, thinkin the worse of life has got the best of me, I strive to find my meaning and to understand my destiny and Life’s always been too cruel a game and now I’m treated blessedly? I pray to the one, the maker of all and everything, are these feelings true or am I being tested faithfully?

If so, then right now, I really should confess. I must make you understand I’ll never have those last minute regrets.

I wish this was easy and you’d simply understand how life, with its tragedies and complicated plans, has finally stopped screwing up and given us a chance. A chance to sample something few ever get to taste, a chance to sample love in a fictional embrace. To test the waters of our lives and hope to never have to cry yet if you still don’t understand then I’ll gladly explain why.


A pledge then, I propose, one for me and you. A pledge then, I suppose, for my answers to come through. A pledge I’ll take alone for something new and something old to grow in place of all the pain I’ve felt, to warm my heart that’s been so cold.

I pledge to make you happy even on those nasty days
I pledge to cherish everything you think, do or say

I pledge to make your life with me as best as life can ever be.
I pledge to take good care of you if you can take good care of me.

I pledge to be devoted, compassionate and caring.
I pledge to be there through tough times whenever you can’t bare it.

I pledge to hear your side in every fight and argument.
I pledge to apologize after every insult sent.

I pledge to you, most of all, with all my soul and heart that’ll never let something stupid split us apart.

I pledge to care for you and turn your frowns’ upside down.
I pledge to give you compliments and make you feel proud.

I pledge because I know there is something to be made, I pledge because this is how I feel, I want you to know, and it’s the only way.
