Britney and Aden didn't know how much they meant to eachother until they proved it.
Aden?s hand felt slightly sweaty as it grasped her hand, and for some reason, it made her feel secure. The cold sweat of his hand melted against hers as they walked on the path through the woods that she knew well. His brown choppy hair laid boringly on his head as his gray billabong hooded sweatshirt was only zipped up half way. He looked like a mess, but he was her mess. Aden was a little ahead of her as it looked like he was pulling her somewhere. Her blonde hair looked butchered, but that's how she liked it. She cut the top short so the top of her hair in the back looked like strings and the rest of her blonde hair was uneven and the longest part fell right below her shoulders. She wore a purple tank top and jeans, her brown flats not protecting her feet as they hiked up the dirt and rocky path. Here they went again!
Aden stopped and looked around. She wondered what he was doing. They were still in the middle of the path. Their knuckles were interlocked as she looked at the back of his head. ?I don?t feel like going any further, Brittany.? He said. It seemed like it has been forever since he muttered a word to her. Brittany didn?t say anything. She shrugged. Aden didn?t see it and looked at her sharply. ?Is that fine with you, princess?? He said sarcastically. Brittany knew he was mad at her, and she accepted the sarcasm and shyly nodded. Aden let go of her hand and it seemed Brittany had shifted all of her weight on to his hand. When he let go she almost fell forward. She had a blank sad look on her face, almost as if she were emotionless. Aden walked toward a big oak tree and stood there for a minute. Aden?s hands were behind his head, his head down. It looked as if he was trying to make an important decision. Brittany stood there, not saying a word, not doing anything. She didn?t want to upset him anymore than he already was.
It seemed like an hour went by before he started fidgeting in his pocket for something. He pulled out a box cutter and began scratching at the tree. The night sky made it hard for Brittany to make out what he was scratching. She stood at least seven feet behind him. Her eyes filled with wonder and yet despair of what he was doing. Her concentration broke when Aden spoke. ?Come here.? He said to her as if he was talking to a dog. Brittany had no choice but to oblige. She slowly walked next to him and looked up at his face, standing at six three he towered over her five six frame. She sighed as she waited for him to speak. She hoped he would say something, anything. ?Give me your palm.? Brittany hesitated and he sharply looked at her. He seemed to not be in the mood for taking any disruptions to his plan. Brittany swiftly held out her palm. She was wondering of what he was doing when the pain hit her. She flinched and when she recovered she realized he had cut the middle of her palm, right down the middle, a two inch wide cut. She yelled out in brief pain and held her hand to her chest. She looked at Aden, hurt that he would do this to her.
Aden didn?t even look at her and he did the same to his right hand. Cut it down the palm. Brittany wondered if he went crazy, and was preparing to run. Brittany held her hurt hand and backed away slowly. Aden then went towards her, slowly and calmly. ?I?m sorry.? He said, over and over. Brittany began crying slightly as he took her hurt hand and held it with his. Their blood mixing. This was their bond. This is what would make them last forever. This was her apology for hurting him. Brittany realized this all at once as his hand and her hand interlocked. She noticed that her hand didn?t even hurt anymore, all at once her pain ceased. She looked up at him, he had a smirk on his face as he looked at her lovingly. She couldn?t help but smirk back as they continued up the path hand in hand. ?You know, I?d die for you.? He said.
