A poem I wrote after awaking from a nap in English class last year. |
There he was Walking down the quiet streets So late at night All alone Enveloped in the shadows of darkness He thought to himself "I wonder if" "I'll be able to see tomorrow" "See the first rays of sunlight" "Hitting the rooftops of these houses" "I wonder if she'll be there when I follow" Tears fell From the sparkling flow within his blue eyes Down his cheeks And into the palm of his hands As flashes of her Flickered through his mind He could See her smile Hear her laughter Feel the soft, faint flutters of her kisses "How could she leave me?" "Why did it have to be so soon?" "I should have been there" "To protect her" "Hold her" "To take her place" There he stopped To find himself At the shores of the deserted beach The waves were crashing At the whims of the moon That shone its light over the waters Giving everything a calming feel There he kept on walking Further and further Never to see the first rays of sunlight Never to see any rays of sunlight Never to see her He would keep on walking Further and further From the path she truly wanted him to walk |
