A poem using colors to describe the grieving of a lost relationship. |
Blue water falls soft From the clouded sky Blue tears drip slow From her sad green eyes In unison, weather and tears Together they drop Hearts broken apart By something that was lost Purple night has come again The sun set in quiet slumber Purple pillows catch the tears That have dropped from her chin The only comfort from the pain Is the patched quilt on the bed And the pillow that she clutches Holding on tight, a desperate hug Green eyes stare blank Trying to forget she said goodbye Green, the color of the dress She had worn the night When she first was told Of the love once felt for her No longer will she hear Those words whispered in her ear Red numbers of the alarm clock Flash from power that was lost Red wine still sits in glasses For she doesn’t have the heart To remove the evidence Of their last night together Leaving them as a reminder That it wasn’t always this way Brown hair hasn’t been brushed With no reason to make an effort Brown leaves fall from the plant That had once been cared for Now without water It slowly dies away Without her there is no desire To keep their love plant alive Pink flowers wilted The last gift she had given Pink wrapping a simple thought That she had been thinking of her Wanting to surprise and maybe Just maybe bring back the fire That was lost but alas It was of no help Orange sun soon to rise again No sleep to be found Orange fruits sitting on the counter A breakfast that won’t be eaten Little desire to eat still For she has too much on her mind Thinking of the pain When she was told goodbye Yellow shower curtain Hasn’t moved in days Yellow lights kept off in that room The concept of hygiene Becoming foreign to the mind Of someone not caring anymore Eventually effort will be made But for now it is pushed aside Black shadows cloud A once optimistic personality Black surroundings The shades have been closed Sunlight not allowed in For it is a reminder That life has continued on Leaving her alone, hidden White hope at last in sight A small droplet to grab on to White lies add a little comfort To the situation Even though the pain might last It is not for eternity Soon she will be able to Say the words of Goodbye |
