A poem based on a dream I had about my aunt, who died four years ago.
You were in my dreams last night
Like a beautiful ghost from my past
It's the first time it's happened
Since the day you left me
You wore a white dress
Like an angel
A magical, vibrant angel
So full of life yet so unreal
A princess, that's what you were
Not like the black dresses
That you used to wear
Before you left me
You were the life of the party
You spoke with such eloquence
Stood with such poise
It wasn't the old you
From before you left me
But I was the one
Running forward
Arms open
Along with my heart
It never crossed my mind
To hate you for leaving me alone
It was like before
Before you left me
Before you died
