An exploration of childhood.
When mother was a little girl,
Her father bought her many things:
A golden necklace with a pearl,
Some dolls, and several ruby rings.

Her father was a traveler,
Who danced in different towns.
When he was home he'd sing to her
Sweet songs in soft and soothing sounds,

"How shall I thank you for your love?
In bushels or mountains of gold?
You are my precious little dove,
My precious girl to hug and hold."

When he would leave her on his trips,
He always left without a noise.
He did not stop to kiss her lips,
But he always returned with toys.
