We dreamers are
Floating leaves among the sea.
Few and far between, we
Tangle ourselves on the sea-wall,
Find ourselves sucked into the motor
Of a passing boat.
We crumble away with passing time or
Are washed to shore.
We dreamers are seldom resilient, but for a few
Sticks that sink to the bottom and stay there
For all time, a fixture. Dreamers, dreams
Fade and change with time,
Become less grandiose, more solid
And attainable than these idealistic
Slivers of cut grass floating in the bay.
We dreamers will take the shape of the sea,
And erode reality away like sand on a shore.
