A free verse poem from a recovering alcoholic...
Sorrow’s Lonely Bottle

I used to
Close my eyes
And drown
In sorrows
Lonely bottle.

Swept away
In liquid mountains,
I knew despair,
And swam alone.

I gave others pain,
My bruises swelled.

Burned in Hell,
Now back,
Grievous wounds
Still scar my
Aching soul.

But today
I hear song birds,
Splendor
In their jovial song.

Join me,
There are
Safer shores.

I will not
Judge.

I share
Hope,
With souls
Who want to sing.
