An award for Katrina and New Orleans related items that touched me. |
This collection contains Katrina-related and/or New Orleans-related poetry and prose that has affected me in some way. If you have a Hurricane Katrina or a New Orleans themed item you would like to share with me or know of someone who does, then please don't hesitate to email a link to me at fictiondiva@writing.com. Thanks. This poem simply moved me, especially as I'm a Katrina survivor:
I couldn't resist awarding this poem. It is satire at its best. Again, as a Katrina survivor, I can also tell you that the poem carries a note of truth:
The name of this award (The Phoenix Award) was inspired by the beautiful, realistic way the author captured the tragedy and the character's reactions within the story. I found the story truly inspiring: "A Rose for Katrina" by sully (Item became invalid) The poems contained within this poetry collection inspired me, made me cry, made me think deeper, and reawakened many of my own memories. I gave the collection an award for creating a special place in my heart and my mind:
I awarded Harry's poem "The Phoenix Award" for capturing the pain so many of us here in New Orleans and along the Gulf Coast have experienced and endured, and for offering hope, as well:
