I peeled back curled petals from a pink rose,
and I exposed a curved belly that made
me remember, she loves the serenade
that sugar scented flowers bring her nose.
I give them, and more, hoping that she knows
she's my gift to wrap with hugs for decades.
Hand in hand, we’ve walked through life’s dark façades,
past sharp thorns, looking for where new buds grow.
It is here we shall lie within green fields,
searching out our tiny rose, with plans
for us to one day find and take her home.
It is here her broken heart will be healed,
by the little fingers of baby's hands,
in the place we'll find where God's children roam.
