A mysterious traveler appears and nobody knows who he really is. |
She watched him as he turned a sharp corner and disappeared into the night. Never before had she seen the man but was curious by his presence. Light on her toes, she glided effortlessly behind the man and observed his movements. They were smooth and quick. Once in a while, he would sense something behind him and turn around. But she kept her distance and hid in the shadows. He would then continue to walk, only pacing faster. As she continued on, she found herself on a strange trail. The man was still going, his steps more sharper by now. Blinking her eyes, she hurried along the path, getting nervous by the second. Suddenly, the man disappeared into thin air and she found herself alone in the dark. A cool breeze flew past her that sent shivers up her spine. Quickly, she spun around, only to be face to face with the stranger. Gasping, her thoughts raced as the stranger examined her. Her heartbeat was beating faster by the minute. "Who are you?" she whispered. "I am nothing but a traveler. Was is it you wish here?" She glanced nervously around and looked down. The stranger looked at her with amusement dancing in his eyes. "Nothing of the sort. I was just wandering around." "Yes, I see that, my child. Would you perhaps be fascinated by the sight of a traveler? It is dark and you shouldn't be alone with anyone at this time of night." She slightly nodded. The man stood so close to her, she could feel his warm breath upon her. "I understand, sir." He gave out a low chuckle and continued to stare at her. "My child, you are very foolish but don't worry, I am a man of good morals. Go home now and go on with you life. You wouldn't want to know more about my life." She glanced up at him. The man was now watching her expression as she tried to think of a way to stall the conversation. "But what is so horrible that you have fared?" Pausing a bit, the man backed away. "As I said before, I am just a mere traveler. In all my years, I have been cursed with this wretched life. There is no place I can call home and fate has intended its devilish ways with me. Go home now child and don't try to search for me. It's safer if you weren't dragged into this." With a turn of his heel, he walked away and vanished. She looked around her and found that she had arrived at the front of her house. Slowly, she approached the front door before entering. |
