an article about politics (ie. Bush, Cheney, Iraq, etc.)
Iraq and Bush: Not A Pleasant Mix
As you may know, the war in Iraq has become an increasingly hot topic in the United States. Many people believe the war is wrong, as do I, but I don't think that it is wrong for the reasons that most other people do. There are many reasons why Bush wants to stay in Iraq, but I think that there are only a few major reasons. I think that the most thought-about issue would be that Bush wants to keep the United States' reputation for helping people in other countries overcome their political strifes. He doesn't really care that hundreds of thousands of Iraqi people have already been killed, he just cares that the United States' reputation might be ruined if he takes the troops out of Iraq. Bush doesn't want the world to think that we are weak by pulling out, even though it's the best thing to do right now. People are being unnecessarily killed because of foolish pride.
Another, more overlooked, reason is rather surprising. When we first went into Iraq, we thought that Bush had good intentions, you know, trying to help innocent people. after around four years, most of the problems have been solved and the rest the people could solve themselves, but Bush still didn't pull the troops out. People thought that we still hadn't caught Osama Bin Laden yet, but no, there is another reason. After hurricane Katrina, the oil industry plummeted, and the gas prices went up and the nation's economy started to plummet, along with the oil industry. The White House chose to stay in Iraq. There is oil in the Middle East, particularly in and around Iraq. Think about it. Bush never really cared about the Iraqi people, he just wanted to go in there, take the oil, and get out. He didn't think that anybody would really notice, but he was wrong. Of course no one would listen to the ramblings of a thirteen-year-old girl, but I can try.
When will our soldiers come home? When will Bush stop this madness? When will the senseless killing end? When, oh when, will the end come?
