Princess Morandyn meets a young new guard for her palace and shows him around Ronal
I am Morandyn, princess of an elfin mortal city called Ronal and these are my memoirs.  You're probably wondering why I'm bothering writing such a thing, well, I'm wondering about that myself.  My memoirs are long and painful but, not to bad.  I'll start out with the tale of the day I met Nogare a mortal farmer who lives not too far from the outside gates of Ronal.  Read it, if you dare!
"Morning miss," said my maid, Prudence, opening the shades, "isn't it a little late to be in bed?  Today's a big day for his majesty, I hear you're getting a new guard today, is that correct?  Well, not that it's any of my business but, it'd be nice if you would show him around Ronal.  No means to affend, miss, but nobody knows Ronal better than you."
I looked up, squinting my eyes to see what day it was.  Oh no, I was late.  Prudence was right, the new guard was coming today and I was supposed to have been at Sam's store buying the food for his welcome feast before I head down to the gates to greet the young mortal.  I rushed out of bed, throwing on clothes that a normal citizen would wear.  "Beg your pardon miss," said Prudence, seeing what I put on, "but shouldn't you be wearing someting more royal?"
I smiled, thinking of how my father would react to what I was wearing.  "Well, Prudence," I said, putting on my slippers, "I don't want to stand out.  Besides, you've known me since I was three and when in that time did you ever see me wear my royal belongings?"
Prudence smiled back at me, realizing that I never have worn royal clothes.  I waved to Prudence and headed out the door.  When I reache the palace doors, I was stopped by the eldest guard, Maximillion, who handed me my royal dress for when I see my father.  I gave him a thank-you nod, and ran out the door, immediately blending in with the citizens of my city.  I immediately headed for Sam's grocery store, ready to buy everything but then, the clock on the palace struck twelve and I realized I had to be at the gates in five minutes or the guard wouldn't be able to get inside.
"Good morning, princess," said Sam as I passed by, "care for some groceries?  No, I understand, hurry or you'll be late."
I shouted thanks to Sam and stopped at the inner bronze gate.  "Good morning, princess, you're late.  Hurry now." said the guard, Clef, as the gate opened.  By the time it was 12:05, I had reached the outer, golden gate to greet the guard.
When the gate opened, there was a young man standing there, dressed in rags, "Hello, is any one there?  I'm Nogare, the new guard, "Princess Morandyn?"
I stepped out and gretted Nogare with a friendly smile, "Welcome to Ronal, Nogare, I'm Morandyn, future queen!"
Nogare suddenly bowed down to the ground as a sign of respect.  "Please," I said, realizing he thought that I was the kind of princess who enjoyed being worshipped, "don't bow.  I hate this royalty respect crap.  Just treat me like a normal citizen.  Come, I'll show you around."
For the rest of the day, I showed Nogare around Ronal and then, we went to Sam's together and bought all the food for the feast.  When the sunset came, we ran to the palace and I changed into my royal clothes for the feast.  Ever since then, we have been the best of friends.
