The arrival of my big fat cat! Bagheera (aka Baggy) |
BAGHEERA You appeared almost regally like on an outing or trip, Sitting in the rubbish of a Grundon's skip! The driver, called Mick, heard you call out loud, He was so amazed he called in a crowd! They were Ooohing and Aaahing, you loved all that, Stroking your head and your copious fat! You descended the lorry but not at great speed, Looking around for your next huge feed. Mick gave you a piece of his chocolate cake, Your look of disdain showed an obvious mistake! So he picked up the phone and made a quick plea, And yes you have guessed it, the sucker was me! You moved in with me and I soon got used, To the beheaded birds and occasional moose! The tickly head nudge at 4am, And if ignored, the ensuing mayhem! How did you know my distinctive car noise? Ready and waiting in an upside down poise. Long sunny days asleep in the briar, Cold winter months hogging the fire. Trips to the vet, you'd make my ears ring, Until you got there, then you were King! How they all loved you and fussed around, Nurses and Vets almost bowed down! Now nights are cold, and lonely and sad, Because my Baggy has gone to my dad. I still hear you patter across wooden floors, And I swear it is you who opens the doors. My heart is now broken, but my memory is clear, Of my darling Bagheera, a Cat still near? |
