To Babes Who Cry

To babes who cry when dad's off to fight.
I hear the sobs deep in the night.

It’s not my own who cry for dad
but I feel the grief, I know they’re sad.

I say a pray for their dad and mom
I hold faith that God brings him home.

I pray, from the depths of my heart,
God, hush the cry, let sorrow part.

A child’s heart aches, and so does mine.
please bring our hero home, one more time.

And if it be that you need him there,
please tell his children how much I care.

Cuddle the babe while their tear drops fall
for it’s the child of a soldier who gives his all.

I hear their cries and I cry the same,
God, be with them in Jesus' name.

A prayer I pray three times a day,
for the babe who cries, while dad’s away.

I send my prayers with soldiers in fight,
but my heart belongs to babes who cry.
