His Heart

Something I like to do
And he likes it too
For me
To see

Into his heart
Not just the start
But deep
Into his soul where he weeps

Things that lie in the night
Waiting for the light
Waiting for the one simple touch
That will mean so much

The one thing that will make
It alright and take
That ever looming step
His secrets will be kept

He doesn’t trust
But with his heart he must
Or else it will be dead
Past the point of end

It will be gone
And he will feel forever wrong
Because in his heart he knows
That not just blood flows

But love
It is something he has always dreamt of
His very desire
To have someone walk through his fire

The fire behind his eyes
That tries
To hide
What lies inside

But through this she will walk
And in his surprise he’ll be unable to talk
Which is a rarity
For anyone to be able to see

Who he is
And where his heart lives
It makes his eyes jump
And his heart thump

Because there is now life
Where once lived nothing but ice
The numbness so chilling
That he thought his heart was incapable of filling

With love
But through the fire she shoved
And here where his tattered heart lays
She prays
