(Okay, this is my first entry... i hope it doesn't suck too much. ^^; Anyways, enjoy the first 2 chapters and I'll revise it or something with the next one or two when i can. Later... and don't forget to rate me so I'll know if I'm doing something wrong or right. Thanks. =]) Chapter 1: Enter Link The wind wisped through the trees, knocking leaves from the branches and down towards the forest floor bed. One leaf found its way down near the trunk, where there lay a young boy, his back against the tree asleep. Circling over the lad’s head was a shining, pink, orb of light, blessed with wings, that kept watch over him. Once the leaf came down, brushing the boy’s forehead gently, his eyes slowly began to flicker open. As he awoke, his left hand immediately went for his forehead, his fingers slightly brushing the golden, blond hair that covered some of his forehead. A small yawn escaped his mouth as his right arm rose high above him. The fairy (the shiny pink orb) soon noticed the limb that blocked its set course and flew down towards the boy’s face. “Finally, you’re awake!” exclaimed the fairy, twinkling slightly as its wings fluttered. The boy nodded the best he could as another yawn escaped his mouth. Soon after the yawn, a small gurgling sound was heard below, which evolved into a growl; the boy’s right hand going straight for his stomach as his face grew gaunt. “Uuuuhhhhheeee...” the boy moaned as he rubbed the green fabric above his belly, looking down at it sadly. The fairy circled his head and stopped in front of the lad’s face after one go-around. “You’re hungry... aren’t you?” questioned the fairy, the boy nodding quite quickly after she asked, “Well, too bad. Does it really look like I carry a satchel?” The boy shook his head and sighed, rubbing his neglected tummy. “Mmm... if you're that hungry, why not hunt for you something? I’m sure it shouldn’t be too hard to find something good.” He nodded to the fairy’s statement and slowly began to stand. As he stood, his profile became much more viewable by the morning’s sun, even under the tree’s shade. The lad was clothed in a pointy, green hat and green tunic that was worn with a leather belt. While his arms and legs were bare, his hands wore leather gauntlets and his feet wore leather boots. On his back were a shield engraved with an expression of horror, a quiver filled with arrows and its bow, and a legendary sword, covered in gold-dust. He yawned once more and slapped his face with both hands. “Ewwwwwuu.” He shivered slightly and finally to small step into the light. “Better?” chirped the fairy as it circled him endlessly. He shook his head and looked down. A small squirrel now stood at his feet, a small nut in its paws. The boy stared down at the creature, his mouth slowly beginning to water. “NO!!” the fairy yelled and descended for the creature. “Don’t eat this. How could you even think of such a thing?” The boy sighed and grabbed his bow from his back, turned around and walked into the forest. “Haaaah!!” The boy was off at a mad dash into unknown, the fairy following him as quickly as her small wings would allow her. “Wait!! Don’t leave me.” And they were gone, the squirrel just eyed the two as they sped off, nibbling quickly at his breakfast. This, who now runs in the Forest of Darkness, is the boy of legend, the one that goes by the name of... LINK. Chapter 2: Strange Happenings As the young lad ran the forest, a smile spread across his face, he eyed the world around him. Everything seemed so vivid and pure, the trees, the leaves, the branches, and its inhabitants. Link grinned at all he was surrounded by, yet the fairy seemed a tad bit wary as they ran further into the forest. “Link, don’t you think we should slow down?” questioned the fair, but young Link paid her no mind. He soon came to a stop though, not for the fairy, but for something that caught his interest. There, Link stared into the eyes a small child somewhere near his own age or tad older. “Uuuhh...” Link placed his hand behind his head and scratched his head. His eyes drifted away, as what was standing in front of him was a strange girl. She bent over slightly and stared him straight in the face when the fairy suddenly flew in between the two. “What do you think you’re doing?” questioned the fairy as its wings fluttered in front of the small girl. She quickly brushed the fairy away and waved her hand in his face, yet no speck of emotion showed upon her own. Link looked into the girl’s eyes and was about to finally say something as his face flushed. He quickly glanced over to the side and turned his eyes back to her and she had vanished. “Ahhhhhh!!!” Link looked frantically around the area and found nothing. The fairy slowly flew back towards him, fluttering her wings angrily. “Errrr... where’s that little witch, I’ll teach her a thing or two... HEY!! Where is she?!” she questioned her young companion. He only raised his arms and shrugged. “Dammit, Link... keep an eye on her next time. Quit being such a kid.” He nodded in reply. “Mmm... let’s just go. When we find her.. I’ll teach her a thing about us fairies.” Link sighed as the fairy only prattled on, he quickly tuned her out and continued to walk once more. As the day began going into the night, the two began to notice a small pattern to their surrounding. Every five minutes or so, they spied the same tree over and over again, leering over them. The fairy finally stopped and signaled for Link’s attention. “Listen up, Link! I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, but we seemed to be going in circles.” Link huffed and puffed softly, wiping a small amount of sweat from his forehead and nodded. “Well then... I guess we may have walked into a trap. Have any ideas, Link?” Link shook his head and held a look that showed he was sorry. “...” the fairy said nothing and only began to pummel Link’s head in small fairy tackles. “Oooowwww... uuuhhh...” Link tried to fend her off, but couldn’t shield himself from the fairy’s fury. But as he tried, his eyes wandered off until a cliff in the clearing caught his eye. There, a dark figure stood on top of the looming cliff, its clothes flapping in the wind that was slowly picking up. Link placed his hand in front of the fairy to block her and stepped towards the cliff. The fairy realized the lad had moved and followed suit. “Link, what is it?” she questioned, but her own question was answered with her eyes. There before them was a ledge a ways above them, a man shrouded in the darkness of his strange attire. The figure was clothed in ninja-styled clothing underneath his armored chestpiece, his lower head (mouth to lower neck) was wrapped around with a black scarf that draped down behind him, clad with a black headband, which was tilted so it covered his right eye, that fluttered with the breeze, and wore footings that seemed more suitable for his armor, as on his hands he wore gauntlets of the same stylings. Link stared at this ominous being with much interest, while the fairy hid behind him “Link... he... him. That man... something about him. It’s very scary. We... we should run now!” The fairy exclaimed, bumping the back of Link’s head softly. Link understood what the fairy was trying to say, but he couldn’t just run. This was a challenge. This man before him was probably the start of a new evil in this world. Link shook his head softly, keeping his eyes on the figure and slowly began to grasp the hilt of his sword. Just then, the man turned his gaze down at them... with an eye that could pierce the hearts of the heartless. A Demon’s eye.... redder than any red hue Link had ever seen. He shook, Link shook in his boots, quaking in fear of the man’s presence. Link shook off what of the fear he could and drew his sword, giving the figure back a stare of his own. “Hmm hmm hmm...” chuckled the man softly at Link’s bravery and slowly slid his left hand forward. Link stared at his, puzzled at what the man could be doing. But... the fairy seemed to at least understand danger was present. “Run, Link!!! Let’s get out of here. Something bad is going to happen, I feel it!” the fairy yelled at her brave or foolish friend as he only shook his head and kept his footing, his sword still at the ready. The fairy’s eyes fled towards the figure, whose hand was reaching for the sheathed eye. She puzzled at what he could be doing, but could still feel the danger it proposed. As if in slow motion, she watched as the figure slid the headband above to reveal a scarred, shut eye. Her mind puzzled over why, what could he be concealing with a single shut eye, but she soon grew frustrated and fearful in waiting for the truth to be revealed. The eye slowly began to unfold, it’s presence creating a slight shift in the atmosphere. Young Link suddenly felt this shift and slowly found himself inching towards the strangely attired figure. As this was happening, Link was quickly battling his fear in his mind, coming to the conclusion of rushing the man that held such power in his right eye. “Haaaaahhhh!!” Young Link rushed toward his opposition in a rage of fury, bowling up from the thoughts of what the figure could have done. Link’s hands clenched his hilt tighter than ever as he near the cliff that held the ominous figure. He found himself, without hesitation, leaping into the air for his target above. As Link leapt, his sword rose over his head and the youth closed his eyes. Numerous amounts of sound entered his ears as he traveled, non-looking, for his opposition. Link prayed within the depths of his mind, that fate would guide him true... but in his gut, he could feel something was going terribly wrong. |
