My feelings of nostalgia towards my chilhood and the emotions this nostalgia provokes. |
When you were young You kicked up the dust and sent a million dreams up into the heavens A swirl of magnectic innocence You skipped over slippery stones of self-consciousness and laughed fear in the face Your pure love and honesty Sharp to the heart of the cynical And endearing to the heart of the wise Holding hands with Grace Cradled by good fortune Pure, wholsome and fearless Scars on your knees and elbows Sandcastles and yellow buckets Pink tricycles and the highest tree you ever saw A little boy named Courage was your "bestest" friend Your sponge-like brain shaped like flowers and clouds This is red, this is yellow One to a hundred Buzzing bees and licking dogs, sequined tu-tu's and hair-clips The time you really danced like no one was watching With golden sunshine and the story of your imagination told all over your face Skipping cartwheels of childish laughter now echo through your tainted mind Memories flicker and flock at the back of your eyes Sweeping you away on Aladdin's carpet Up and over the lush fields of your childhood Down and around to rest under the biggest tree you ever saw When you were young. |
