Bottled Up

Some things are best not to say
As you face situations each day

With this I often agree
and keep things hidden in me

I keep my ears open, I keep my mouth shut
and in doing so stay in the same little rut

It eats away at my insides
but that's better than hurting others, right?

Each rival emotion pushing the throttle
I keep locked away in my own little bottle

Each little thought that might cause trouble
Inside it forms a whole new bubble

One new bubble, small by measure
but inside the bottle it adds that much more pressure

Slowly the bubbles rise to the top
but silent I stay, my heart continues to drop

And all the while this bottle of carbonated emotion
churns inside me like waves of the ocean

Such a good little girl, I keep controversy bottled within
My only fear is what will happen if it ever fizzes over the brim.
