Weekend Dad

Being a weekend Dad

It doesnt sound like a very long time, a fortnight
But when it means seeing my girls, it feels like forever
To see their smiling faces and to talk and play all day
I know I talk to them every night but that is over the phone
It isn't the same as being with them in person
And getting and giving hugs and kisses
Is so much better in person than over the phone
And to tuck them in and kiss them goodnight
knowing you will see them come first light
And telling them you love them as you switch off the light
No, a fortnight is a very long time when you are a weekend dad.
