After the day Billy came to Kendall's school she learned something.
It was a normal day in a normal school in a normal town. The sky was clear, the sun was bright, and Mrs. Conrad, My first period math teacher, was lecturing us on how we need to now about algebra in the future. At Hoffman middle everything was messed up. Me and my best friend ever, Emily, were just about to fall asleep when out of nowhere, a big, tall, fat boy came in and slammed the door, gave Mrs. Conrad a paper and sat down right behind me and Emily. Emily leaned over to me and said, “Gosh, you can never get a nap these days." We started cracking up when Mrs. Conrad Said, “Emily and Kendall, Since you want to make so much noise I bet you wont mind telling Billy What are doing." We sat there puzzled, When Mrs. Conrad stated,"Oh i apologize, class we have a new student. His name is Billy. Now Billy, Where did you move from?" Billy mumbled, “Atlanta, Georgia." "Well, From Georgia to Colorado, That must of been fun?" Mrs. Conrad said trying to get the class to smile. Billy just sat there not saying anything. "Well," Mrs. Conrad said, “Back to the lesson." Everyone once and a while me and Emily would peek back at Billy to see if he even started on the notes. He never did though.
At the end of the day, I met up with Emily at the buses and we walked to bus #3246 together. When we got there I said, “So did you see Billy again today?" Emily replied, “Even worse he's in my 4th period PE class and he sits right behind me!" "Was he in any of your other classes?" I said. "Yah, 1st, 4th, and 5th" Then added, "What about you?" I said,"1st with us, 3rd with me, 5th with us, and 6th with me." "Oh gosh," Emily said, "I'm so sorry!" "That's ok I bet he smells pretty bad!" I said trying to make us have a joke about this whole thing. Emily laughed. "Well here’s my stop! Call me later and ill research on my dads criminal profile thing he has on his computer." Emily said joking around. "Bye!" I said then turned away. Even though my stop was 7 stops away from hers i felt it was always a long ride alone. I started thinking about how Emily must think its pretty cool to have a dad as a police man, when my dad is a teacher and I think that’s ok because i can always get the right answers for my homework through him. Like last night, how am i supposed to know about World War 1? When we got to my stop i jumped off and ran to my house to tell my mom about my day. But when i stepped in the door and yelled "Mom I’m home!!!" she said,"Oh good come to the family room I want you to meet your cousin." So I put my book bag down by the door and walked in the family room and guess who I saw? You guessed it right. Billy.
I walked over hoping for my mom to say "Just kidding. Their our new neighbors!" But she said nothing. "Meet your cousin Billy!" she said. A few seconds later she added, "I guess you guys have met today? You’re both in 6th grade at Hoffman middle school?" Trying to be nice and not crack up I said, "Hello again Billy. I’m Kendall, if you didn’t know that?" "Yah I know." He mumbled. "This is your aunt Susan. She’s your father’s sister." My mother said. “Hello.” I said to her. “Now if you all don’t mind a have a phone call to make.” I ran up the stairs and stumbled to the phone. I quickly dialed 964-8276, Emily’s Number. Her Mother answered. “Is Emily there?” I managed to get out. “Is this urgent?” Her Mother said. “Yes very!” I said. "Ok she’s doing her homework. I'll get her." Her mother said. A few minutes later I heard Emily's voice. "Hello?" She said. "Hey it's Kendall." "Well you called early? I can’t talk long I was doing my homework." "I'm scared!" "Is this an emergency? Are you ok?" "I'm feeling dead. I just met a cousin I have never met before." A few minutes later Emily said, "Ok who is it? Mariah Carrey?" Emily laughed. "No. Billy." "NO WAY!" Emily shouted. I could hear her mom yell "Keep it down sweetie!" "Oh my god I’m so sorry!" "It's ok I'll be ok." "That’s good because I got to go now. I guess I won’t do the criminal profile thing." Emily said joking around. "Ok Bye." I hung up.
After a while I went down stairs again and Billy and Aunt Susan were by the door. "Are you leaving?" I said. "Yes I'm sorry we'll come back later we have to unpack." Aunt Susan said. "Ok, Goodbye Billy, Goodbye Aunt Susan." I said kindly. Billy just stared at me. "Goodbye Kendall." Aunt Susan said pushing Billy out the door. She could hear her say to Billy, "Why didn't you talk to Kendall? She's going to think you’re mental or something!" I turned to my mother and said,” I have nothing to say except why I didn’t meet him sooner?” “I don’t know. She just showed up so I called you’re father and it was true. Kind of weird, but true.” She said. "Ok well now I feel bad because me and Emily were kind of making fun of him saying he was fat and a bully and stuff like that.” “Well why would you say that anyway?” “I don’t know. We were about to fall asleep because Mrs. Conrad was lecturing again.” "Ok well be nice." "Ok." I went up to my room again and went to sleep. At 5:12. I was confused.
My mom woke me up at 7:48 for dinner. I ate, took my shower, and went back to sleep. When I got up I told my mother I didn’t feel good and I got to stay home. After I ate breakfast I went in the family room to watch TV when I heard tapping on the window. I looked over and I saw Billy telling her to let him in. I ran to the door and said, “What the heck! Billy?” “Hi Kendall. I had to come apologize. I saw you weren’t at school today so I faked sick and left. I'm sorry if I scared you. Can we be friends?" "Shure."
