Jesus has died, Jesus is risen, Jesus will come again |
He suffered for us, he died for us. Yet many of us have already forgotten the true meaning of Easter. One of his twelve disciples betrayed him, Still that betrayer ate the last supper with him. For thirty silver coins his life was handed over to the demons' hands, And received the kiss of betrayal. He was captured, then sentenceed to death. But before that he was to have the 60 lashes of the whip. The whip tore chunks of flesh off of his body, Spilling blood everywhere. With his back whipped, The roman soldiers moved onto his chest. Then he was taken to the courtyard of a fortress, Where he was maked fun of by the soldiers. They put a purple robe around him, And a crown of thorns on his head. They beated him on the head with a stick, And spat on him. They shouted all kinds of cruel things at him, And knelt down before him and pretended to worship him. When they were finished, He was forced to carry the cross on which he was to be crucified. The soldiers gave him some wine mixed with a drug to ease the pain, But he refused it. At nine o'clock in the morning he was nailed to the cross, Together with two other criminals. At midday he died and was risen to heaven, Where he sits on the right side of God. The Son of God indured all the whippings and beatings, Just to save us. |
