the perfect wedding night...in my opinion
Carly couldn’t control the butterflies in her stomach as Scott carried her over the threshold of their elaborate honeymoon suite.  She was still in her wedding gown, the lace and silk conforming to every curve of her body.  Scott couldn’t let his hands leave her waist, his eyes not leaving her own.
“I’m gonna change.”  She said, searching his deep blue-green eyes, pressing a tiny finger to his bottom lip, tracing it.  He put a finger underneath her chin, tilting her face upward to press a tender kiss to her soft, rosy lips.
“I can’t wait to hold you again.”  Hesitantly, he let her go, crossing to the door, his eyes only leaving hers with the closing of the door.
Fear gripped Carly’s heart at that moment, reality hitting her head on.  This was her wedding night.  ‘God, give me a peace.’  She took a deep breath, grabbing her over-night bag and walking into the bathroom.  Of this, she was sure.  This would be a night to remember.

Scott knocked once before opening the door.  Peaking in, the bedroom was empty.  He laid the 20-ounce Sprite on the bedside table, emptying his pockets.  He looked the room over, taking in the king size circular bed, raised a foot off the ground by a carpeted platform.  The sheets were solid black satin, with matching comforter and pillow shams.  The carpet was a deep magenta, covering the entire expanse of the large room.
The shower was running.  ‘Just enough time to get ready,’ he thought.  Scott grabbed for a small black bag, unzipping to reveal its contents.  He’d packed away several candles in Carly’s favorite scent; Lavender.  Carefully, he spread them out around the bed.  The ambience of this dimly lit room was becoming heady.
Slowly, he picked at each button of his starched, white shirt, letting it fall open to reveal bronze skin stretched across firm muscles.  The light played games across the firm lines of his body as he continued to remove the rest of his clothes; the pressed black slacks, black oxford shoes shined to perfection, blue Fruit-of-the-Loom boxers.  Sliding beneath the sheets, the satin felt heavenly against his skin.  Lying in wait for his bride, he desperately tried to calm his nerves.  His heart was beating so fast and loud he was afraid the next room could hear it.
His heart stopped with the creak of the bathroom door.  At first, he was afraid he was dreaming.  Carly’s blonde tresses flowed across her shoulders, her body draped in white.  Scott’s mouth went dry.

She slowly walked from the bathroom, having to concentrate on every step just to make it.  When her eyes caught sight of Scott already in bed, her heart stopped.  He was propped up on his left elbow, his body covered from the top of his hip, down, by the contrasting dark fabric.  Her crystal blue eyes took in the way the candlelight illuminated her husband’s bronze muscled chest, his eyes holding flames that reached to the depths of her soul.  It was a job in itself to keep her heart from emerging from her chest.
She’d left her hair down, letting it flow across her shoulders; just the way Scott liked it.  She wore a silk, pure white nightie with spaghetti-straps, that stopped about five inches above her knees, covered by a sheer, white robe that wasn’t much longer.

Slowly, she pulled the robe off, letting it slide from her arms and onto the floor behind her.  Her right hand moved up across her left shoulder, under the strap, sliding it slowly off to her elbow.  Her left hand calmly followed suit.  Seductively, she slid the silk further down her beautiful body, more and more skin becoming visible to Scott’s hungry eye.
Finally, the material pooled at her feet, allowing her to gracefully make the final few steps to the side of the bed, uninhibited.  Scott took in her flawless beauty, his eyes drinking in the sight of her.  She was his.
Slowly, he pulled the covers back, revealing the vacancy beside him, saved only for this princess who was his.  Carly slid into the strong safety of his arms, beneath the black covers, finally, shamelessly, able to feel his bare flesh next to hers.

Scott traced the shape, the lines, of her face with his thumb, his fingers of his free hand behind her head, entangled in her golden mane.  He could hear her labored breathing; feel her racing heart against his chest.  His eyes locked with hers, his face only inches from her own.
“Carly…I’ve waited for this night all my life.”  He whispered, struggling to keep the emotion from faltering his voice.  “God had to have heard all my prayers, baby, because you’re everything I need and more.  I love you with all my heart.  You are my dream-come-true.”
A single tear made a trail down her ivory cheek, his lips tenderly ridding her skin of the moist drop.  He struggled to breathe normally as he intertwined his fingers with her smaller ones, tracing the side of her jaw with his thumb, across to her soft inviting lips.  For a second, he watched her mouth as it struggled to maintain composure, to keep the trembling to a minimum.  Than, softly, his lips met hers in a kiss full of the pent-up passion and want that had built over the past years.

Later, as the candles turned slowly dimmer, Scott held his sleeping wife in his arms.  His eyes fixed to the dark ceiling, he opened his mouth in a low whisper, running his fingers softly through Carly’s silky hair.  “She’s all I need, God.”  His eyes went to her sleeping face, brushing his lips carefully across her forehead, pressing his cheek to that spot, hugging her closer.  “Even when I begged for a soul mate, You knew best.  You told me to be patient.  Now, Lord, I know why.  And she was more than worth the wait.”
