despair gives way to hope, this is a first draft. Critique welcome. |
I saw a man the other day I used to know so well He once was sweet and kind and giving But the man I saw from what I could tell Looked like he was barely living I asked him what had changed him so "Life" he responded with sadness and shame "Despair came with its ebb and flow" The marks of pain clearly remain I recalled the days of youth we once shared the games, the songs, the laughter When time was ours and love paired Our hearts for ever after. Heartache grew within my heart and soul on wings of truth and tears of prayer, I longed for the boy, my heart he stole when young we were so far from here. Brother, come. I've found a way to rid you of your shame, your pain. Daily I say your name and pray for you to feel the cleansing rain. I know you, I know you well, For you stood along side me so many a day. Remember me? I shared your hell of pain and loss and fear and dismay. But sunshine broke and clouds gave way to love and joy, the chains broke with a clatter. Hope brought to me a better day And the days of old did shatter. I see a man deep in your eyes I used to know so well He wants to be whole again, sweet and kind and giving. The man I can see, the one deep inside, once fell Now's given a second chance at living. |
