Towards the end one more than ready to move on to a new journey.
A Moment in Time
By Rogue Ronin

I walked among the hustle and bustle of the everyday crowd.
I frowned in confusion when we passed by each other.
They haven’t even noticed me when I stared in disbelief at their faces.
Their expressions showed that they were each in their own worlds.

So I just shrugged it off and continued to stroll down my own path.
Just ahead of me, a car took a corner too quick and jumped the curb.
I tried to yell out a warning to the people that were on the corner, but it was no use.
My eyes went wide when I realized not a single sound came out of my throat.
It was like my voice was trapped and fought to get out.

My feet frozen on site, I felt my body as it stiffened in fear and I stood there helpless.
Then within a blink of an eye, something miraculous happened.
At the very last second, the driver with split second timing, veered away from the corner, and missed them by mere inches.
The driver slammed on the brakes and came to a grinding halt, the driver’s hands grasped to the steering wheel like a lifeline.

People gathered around and whispered to each other as they gawked upon the scene.
Just as soon as the situation was adverted, I felt my body being able to move again.
I wondered why I had froze, my mind whirled with so many questions that I couldn’t have kept up with them.
At that moment, I felt like I could have collapsed, from being so overwhelmed with what just occurred.

I was so caught up in my own concerns, I didn’t feel someone as they passed right through me.
I looked up and then quickly whirled around and watched as the person kept on walking.
Then it hit me like a ton of bricks, my thoughts became clear, and all of my questions were answered in that split moment.
Why no one noticed me, why they didn’t hear my warning?
It was because I was no longer part of this world.

I finally acknowledged it to myself that I was no longer here.
I felt a hand upon my shoulder, and I turned around.
She looked back at me with the most caring eyes that I’ve ever seen.
The angel reached out towards me, at that moment I felt scared, but then she gave me a soft and loving smile.
So, I took her hand into mine and the two of us vanished when the sun’s light merged with the twilight.
