Perfection

There aren’t many people here
That accurately describe perfection.
She wipes away a glass-like tear,
As she stares at her reflection.
Her dad, now drunk, picks up a beer,
As the TV loses reception.
Her mother yells from somewhere near,
But the girl is losing the connection.

All the guys that are at school,
Never actually notice her.
She is not really considered “cool”
Other kids point and stare and smirk.
Her life is one, great, big, dark pool,
And she’s a puny fish chasing a lure.
“Why must my life be so cruel?
I’m just a smudge inside a blur!”

She yells and shouts until God-knows-when,
Until she cries herself to bed.
She felt pretty ‘til the age of ten,
Until she reflected upon the life she led.
Her neighbor was pretty as a wren,
Her lips were full and rosy red.
Everyone liked her as a friend,
Oh how our girl wishes she were dead!

Death, yes, death!
That will be it!

While her mom gets high on crystal meth,
She writes the note with the ink of death.
She’s planned it out and is now ready for the rest,
For the moment that she breathes her last breath.
She has the noose around her neck,
The TV blaring, father not knowing about the death,
Of his daughter that could do so much,
But he’s too busy drinking and putting out cigarette butts.
So there goes our future psychiatrist,
Our doctor or next president,
The scientist that could change the world,
The child of us all, our perfect girl.

But wait!

Death does not knock on this door.
The noose drops back down to the floor.
This body will not go to the morgue,
This girl will live to see much more.

The light is bright,
There goes the night,
That enveloped her in darkness.
Now she lives,
And even gives,
While showing off all her smartness.

Her family,
Does not believe,
She can be what she wants.
However she knows,
That anything goes,
Especially with her debutantes.

Her life was one big mess,
Full of darkness and near death.
Now instead of running wild,
Her life is a bit more mild,
Now on to the next perfect child.
